VARESE-PESARO: THE PRESS ROOM

Coach Attilio Caja at the end of Openjobmetis Varese Basketball-Carpegna Prosciutto Basket Pesaro:

«We are very happy with the victory that wasn’t in any way a foregone conclusion. We had to play it well, we put a good level of fitness on display, and we went up in increments even with the significant counter-attack baskets at the end. We also displayed a good deal of psychological strength because it was the hardest match we have played here in Varese. At other home wins, we always had the upper hand in the first half, but this time we only managed to break away in the thirtieth. It wasn’t easy mentally because we wanted to win and it was important for us to bring it home. The lads were also good from a psychological point of view, led by Giancarlo Ferreo, who played a great game as captain. He was exemplary on court for the way he understood the game. His two-pointers were very significant. He was good at being aggressive, took many fouls, and got 8 rebounds, so he didn’t just shoot three-pointers. Our captain played an important game and I’m glad that people appreciated him. We knew that Pesaro was a dangerous team, so a very significant victory and two more points in the standings».
