Yesterday, Monday 20 January, the second seasonal meeting of “Basketball: a school of life” took place. This Varese Basketball project is sponsored by Fip, Coni and Varese Council, and was organised with the assistance of Intesa Sanpaolo and its purpose is to promote basketball in our province.

Before a crowd of children at the Bogno “Sacro Cuore” (Sacred Heart) primary school in Besozzo and moderated by Raffaella Dematté, head of the project, the meeting featured Luca Gandini, centre at Openjobmetis who, in the aftermath of the glorious victory over Trieste, described his life as a professional athlete and how sport has been a true training ground for him in the pursuit of happiness, passion and self-actualisation.

After the meeting, which was studded with inquisitive questions regarding his off-court activities, the Italian player had the traditional photo session with the pupils and signed autographs, providing just the right ending to a pleasant day that will stay in their hearts, and especially in ours, forever.
