ROKO LENI UKIC JOINS THE WHITE-AND-RED TEAM

Varese Openjobmetis Basketball announces that it has reached an agreement with Roko Leni Ukic. From the class of 1984, Ukic has signed a contract that will keep him at the Red and White’s club for the next two months. Expert talented Point Guard and game visionary, Ukic combines excellent qualities as a great passer who is able to penetrate the opposition’s defences by attacking the hoop and using physical presence and technique in the low-post. Veteran of Croatian nationals with whom he has played in various editions of Eurobasket, he has also played a leading role in the World Championships and in the Olympics.

Career:

Born in Split, Croatia, on 11 May 1984, Ukic started his career in KK Split. Point Guard with a height of 196 cm and a weight of 86 kg, at only 16 he was already a regular on the first team. He played with the KK’s until 2005 when he was chosen for the second round by the Toronto Raptors. Ukic decided, however, to go abroad to Spain where he played first for Tau Vitoria and then Barcelona. In August 2007, he moved on to Virtus Roma with coach Jasmin Repeša and the following year he signed a three-year contract with the Toronto Raptors of the NBA franchise that had placed him in 42nd place overall in the draft in 2005. He then went to the Milwaukee Bucks for the season next. In 2010, he returned to play in Europe with Turkish side, Fenerbahce Ülker and in 2012 signed with Panathinaikos, the team with whom he won a Greek championship in 2013 and a domestic cup in 2013. Last season, with Cedevita Zagreb, he won the Croatian Championship and Cup.
