Comments by Giannis Kastritis following Pallacanestro Openjobmetis Varese-Pallacanestro Trieste:
«I want to congratulate our players because tonight’s victory was truly challenging—not only because of what happened on the court but also because of what happened beforehand, given the long road trip that kept us away from Varese for a few days without much practice. We also had to bring in Amedeo Della Valle, who was returning from an injury, and try to find the right plays and lineups to perform at our best. A lot happened during tonight’s game—we had quite a few ups and downs. There were moments when it seemed like things were going badly, but the guys stuck together, communicated with each other, and helped one another a lot, managing to bring home the victory. Playing against this Trieste team is by no means easy: we saw how hard they fought in the first two games against two very strong teams like Milan and Venice, so we knew it wouldn’t be easy. Unfortunately, we saw what happened to Sean McDermott during the fourth quarter, and we’re glad he’s feeling better. I’d like to thank the fans who were by our side again tonight on the long and winding road we’re setting out to build this year. Now let’s put this behind us because in two days we have a difficult and important BCL game against Peristeri; despite the short notice, we need to be ready for tip-off on Tuesday».
