Giannis Kastritis’ comments following Itelyum Varese-Peristeri Betsson:
«First of all, I want to congratulate Peristeri on their victory—it was absolutely well-deserved. It was a very tough game for us, partly because we were up against a team that, as it has already shown on other occasions this season, has the ability to fight back and come from behind even when it’s in trouble. I think our guys did a good job on both ends of the court in the first half of the game. We knew our opponents would fight back, and they significantly ramped up their physicality and intensity. This put us in a tough spot, especially due to the huge energy expenditure and accumulated fatigue. At times, we lacked the clarity needed to handle certain details and game situations, and Peristeri was good at taking advantage of that. That said, I can’t fault my players in the slightest when it comes to effort and attitude. They gave everything they had on the court, showing a great desire to fight and determination. We certainly didn’t always make the right choice at the right time, but the spirit with which the team approached this game was commendable. It wasn’t easy to manage certain situations either, such as Della Valle’s injury and Librizzi’s foul trouble, which inevitably affected our rotations. Now we need to be good at putting this behind us, leaving this loss in the past, and immediately focusing on Sunday’s game against Trento. As for the Basketball Champions League, I don’t think this loss will derail our campaign. We still have four games left to play, and we have to approach them with the conviction that we can win them all. Nothing is lost yet, but now we have to look ahead, keep working, and focus exclusively on our next game».
