KASTRITIS: “PLAYOFFS? FATE IS IN OUR HANDS”

The words of Giannis Kastritis

ahead of Virtus Segafredo Bologna-Pallacanestro Openjobmetis Varese:

“Do we deserve to go to the playoffs? Let’s wait for the last game, because after all, our fate is in our own hands: if we win, we go. That is the most important thing and we have to do everything to get there even though I think the real answer will only come at the end of the regular season. If we are in the playoffs, it will mean that we have deserved this goal. If, on the other hand, we don’t get there, it will mean that we have missed something. But right now we are focused only on giving everything to make it. We are very happy. We have come from two weeks that were a bit delicate, mainly because of the break we had to manage, but I have to say that already since last week, and even these days, the players have been extremely focused and the training sessions have been really high level. We are still in the race and we will fight until the last game to achieve this goal. I don’t feel like talking yet as if it is already the final balance of the season, I prefer to postpone that time. I can say one thing, though: the way we started and where we are today, still playing for this goal, means that we have built something important. Our team culture has been crucial. For me it was crucial that despite all the ups and downs we faced during the season, we stuck together and continued to believe in the group. We are one of the teams that has changed the least during the year, apart from early in the season, and we have remained compact, fighting together and showing that this is how things can really work.”
