An extraordinary milestone that marks a profound cultural shift in the region: Pallacanestro Varese is celebrating the fifth year of the “Pink Month” project. Originally launched as a corporate wellness initiative for female employees and their families, the project has steadily expanded over time, reaching an ever-increasing number of women each year.
A new initiative in co-design and co-branding: ASST Sette Laghi, Pallacanestro Varese, and the CAOS ODV association are formally joining forces for Pink October 2026. The red-and-white club officially becomes a strategic partner of the healthcare system, dedicating the arena’s facilities to the health of the community. The infirmaries and anti-doping room at the Itelyum Arena will host professionals from ASST Sette Laghi, making Pallacanestro Varese an active contributor to the sustainability of the National Health System. The main goal of this new initiative is very clear and focused: to engage, raise awareness among, and protect younger women—specifically those between the ages of 25 and 44—through early diagnosis and accurate information.
Special thanks go to the General Management for its exceptional institutional sensitivity, to all the highly esteemed professionals involved in the activities, and to Adele Patrini, the heart and tireless driving force behind the association, whose vision and support have enabled Pallacanestro Varese to develop and grow this project over the years. The initiative aims to combine the social and symbolic value of sports with clinical excellence and volunteer support, bringing preventive care directly to the city’s community gathering places.
The schedule of activities at the Itelyum Arena:
- Breast Exams and Genetic Counseling:
On October 17 and 21, physicians from the Breast Unit (directed by Prof. Francesca Rovera) will conduct breast exams, while geneticists Maria Grazia Tibiletti and Ileana Carnevali will provide specific genetic counseling on hereditary cancer risks. - Ultrasound Diagnostics: On October 21 (4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., concurrently with breast care services) and October 31 (9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.), Dr. Callegari, Director of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging, will coordinate the activities of the Breast Ultrasound Clinic.

This formal agreement represents a strong institutional partnership aimed at protecting the public health of the Varese community in an integrated and community-based manner. The organizers are already looking to the future: the hope is that this “Pink Month” will serve as a springboard for developing and consolidating year-round health education programs.
At the end of the campaign and upon completion of all field activities, in early November, an official press conference will be held to present to the public and the media an overview and the results of the services provided, as well as future projects.
